Health At Every Size® - A History
|
Item Number: 90-975
|
Psychotherapist Barbara Altman Bruno, PhD, DCSW draws on her years of private practice and her many years of work in the size acceptance and HAES® movements, particularly in the NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance) and the ASDAH (Association for Size Diversity and Health) organizations.
Bruno states that “I am not a historian, but rather, a witness. I am glad to be witnessing the increasing numbers of people who are shifting from a weight-focussed to a weight-neutral, health-promoting paradigm.”
She writes about weight-related events in the early 20th century, followed by HAES and size acceptance in the 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, and events in the early 2000’s. This is followed by a list of references and blogs.
